Brighton-based folk artist Nick Austin has dropped his beautiful new single, ‘Bed Of Roses’. It’s an ethereal track defined by soft keys and delicately plucked guitars, with his voice taking centre stage. There is a subtle baroque-pop influence working its way in too, thanks to the sonorous backing vocals and careful arrangements. “On the face of it this is a song about men going to war and those that return coming back changed. The war is a metaphor for how people, families and communities process trauma. Both from my own experience and working in social care, I have spent time around people who have had their lives shaped by their experiences and watched how the effects of this are passed through generations.” ‘Bed Of Roses’ is taken from Austin’s upcoming album, Carnival, which is coming out on September 27th, 2024. -Dan Peeke
